Services support that survives the ceiling void

Beam clamps, threaded rod, channel support, cable containment, pipe fixings and plumbing systems, the support and distribution layer, drill-free where the structure allows.

MSS SP-58 / SP-69 pipe supportsDIN 975 / DIN 976 threaded rodIEC 61537 cable tray systemsISO 898-1 Class 4.8 / 8.8

The problem

MEP support is where programme is lost. Drilling into structure for every hanger is slow, damages post-tensioned slabs, and multiplies inspection points. Meanwhile the wrong plating on a rooftop plantroom hanger will bloom rust before handover.

How MST answers it

MST supplies drill-free beam clamp systems, threaded rod, channel support, cable containment and pipe fixings as a coordinated kit, sized to the load and specified to the right corrosion class for indoor, plantroom or rooftop service.

Product profiles

The profile families in this basket.

Article codes, stocked sizes and stock lengths, as they appear in the catalogue a specifier orders from.

01

Support system profiles

Strut channel, brackets, clamps and threaded rod for suspending pipework, ductwork, cable tray and containment from slab or structure.

Materials
Pre galvanised, hot dip galvanised and stainless steel

Made to the project drawing rather than to a stock schedule. Send the detail and we will section it.

Sizes shown are the stocked increments, not the limit of what can be sectioned. Each family also has its own catalogue with the full dimensional drawings; ask for the ones relevant to your package.

Engineering reference

Threaded rod, stress area and indicative hanger capacity

Tensile stress areas are geometric and fixed by ISO 898-1. Hanger capacities follow MSS SP-58 practice for ambient-temperature carbon steel rod and are indicative only. The governing value is always the project structural calculation.
Rod sizeTensile stress areaIndicative safe loadTypical service
M836.6 mm²≈ 3.4 kNSmall bore pipe, cable tray
M1058.0 mm²≈ 5.4 kNDuctwork, light pipework
M1284.3 mm²≈ 7.9 kNChilled water risers
M16157 mm²≈ 14.7 kNLarge bore, firefighting mains
M20245 mm²≈ 22.9 kNPlant skids, heavy headers
M24353 mm²≈ 33.0 kNPrimary plant support

Safe loads shown assume static ambient service with no seismic or thermal amplification. Apply the project's load factors, and reduce for elevated temperature and for rod exceeding the unbraced length in the bracing schedule.

Applications

Where this is used

  • Chilled water, firefighting and process pipework hangers
  • Ductwork and AHU / FCU suspension
  • Cable tray, ladder and busbar support
  • Rooftop plantroom and condenser skids
  • Drill-free connection to steel beams and purlins
  • Seismic and sway bracing to project bracing schedules

Environment & finish

Corrosion strategy, by site condition

The Kingdom is not one environment. The finish that lasts twenty years in Riyadh will fail inside a warranty period on the Gulf coast.

Conditioned interior

Electro-zinc plated to ISO 4042 (Fe/Zn 5–8 µm) is normally sufficient for ceiling voids, risers and conditioned plantrooms. Cost-efficient and readily available across the full size range.

Rooftop, external and wet plantrooms

Hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A153 or A4 / AISI 316 stainless. Riyadh and Eastern Province rooftops see surface temperatures well above ambient plus chloride-bearing dust, electro-zinc plating will not last the defects liability period there.

Governing standards

What this discipline is measured against

  • MSS SP-58 / SP-69 pipe supports
  • DIN 975 / DIN 976 threaded rod
  • IEC 61537 cable tray systems
  • ISO 898-1 Class 4.8 / 8.8
  • ISO 4042 electroplated coatings
  • ISO 3506 A2 / A4 stainless
  • SBC 501 / 601 mechanical & electrical

Where a project specification calls out a standard not listed here, send the clause reference with your enquiry, the technical desk will confirm equivalence or source to the named standard directly.

How we source

Three corridors, one certification regime.

Where a line comes from changes its lead time, its certification route and its landed cost. We state the corridor openly rather than hiding it behind 'globally sourced', it is usually the first thing a procurement manager needs to know.

  • Europe, UK & USA

    Germany · Italy · UK · USA

Western-spec lines where the consultant names an EN or ASTM source mill, and ETA-assessed anchors and facade systems.

  • Gulf & Kingdom

    KSA · UAE

Local manufacture and stock for programme-critical lines, with the shortest lead time and full local content and Saudization credentials.

  • Asia & Türkiye

    China · Taiwan · Malaysia · Türkiye

Volume manufacture on certified lines where the specification permits it, same certification regime, tested and documented to the same standard.
